The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) successfully concluded its 2026 Undergraduate Internship Programme, on Friday 14th August. Forty-four interns participated in a restructured six-week initiative designed to provide real-world experience and meaningful learning opportunities for Trinidad and Tobago’s future professionals.
Over the course of the programme, the interns gained valuable exposure to the professional working environment through hands-on project assignments, mentorship from experienced professionals, practical workplace learning and field visits to NGC’s energy installations. They experienced firsthand what it means to contribute to an organisation that plays a critical role in the country’s energy sector. In addition to their departmental assignments, interns participated in a series of developmental workshops covering financial literacy; energy conservation and sustainability; conflict resolution; workplace professionalism and interview skills. These sessions were designed to equip participants with the knowledge and competencies needed to transition confidently into their future careers.
Several interns gave feedback on their experiences at NGC. Kiran Kangalee an Energy Engineering student at the University of Trinidad and Tobago (UTT) shared his thoughts. “NGC has shown me that engineering is not only about technical knowledge, but also about collaboration, communication, and finding innovative solutions that create value for both industry and society.”
