18 years ago, The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) planted the first tree under its pioneering, large-scale reforestation programme. Over 172,000 seedlings and 315 hectares later, the programme’s objectives have been achieved, and our country is reaping the rewards.

What began in 2005 as an initiative to restore forest acreage cleared during pipeline construction activities in South Trinidad, quickly became a signature sustainability project for NGC.

On 21st March 2023—the UN International Day of Forests—NGC ceremonially transferred the last of its reforestation sites to the care of the Forestry Division of the Ministry of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries, marking the completion of its programme charter.
