“LIFE Centre is very appreciative of NGC and their donations, as well as their ‘sweat equity’, making it possible for our grounds to look as beautiful as it can for when students return in September. We are truly appreciative, and we thank you all so very much for this.”—Dr. Shara Zoe, Principal, LIFE Centre

These were the words of Dr. Shara Zoe, Principal of the non-profit organisation, Learning Is For Everyone (LIFE) Centre, after The National Gas Company of Trinidad and Tobago Limited (NGC) heeded the call to assist in restoring a building and its yard space into areas that would provide LIFE Centre students with an improved environment. LIFE Centre’s mission is to equip individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and other communication-related disorders, with skills and knowledge required for a fulfilling life in an accepting society. Their hope is to reach educators, parents and the general public in order to build an inclusive society for persons with Autism.

As part of its volunteerism programme, NGC employees were invited to assist LIFE Centre in preparing their facilities for the new school term, which included assistance with rubble removal and landscaping, to create a more suitable and welcoming space. The Company also took the opportunity to donate all gardening equipment and tools used in the exercise to the institution so that LIFE Centre could continue maintenance.
