Carnival is celebrated in many countries around the world and often includes music, dancing, parties, people dressed up with elaborate costumes and accessories in ornate street parades.

Unfortunately, Carnival celebrations may not be very environment-friendly. There is an increase in waste generated as during the parties leading up to the main event, an unprecedented amount of cans, bottles, paper, and other materials are discarded on the streets, harming the environment. Costume pieces may also contain ‘gemstones’ and other plastic bits.

The good news is: we can be happy, have fun, and enjoy the celebrations while cutting down on waste.
